Sometimes it is easier to talk to a complete stranger about Personal Issues than to our loved ones, due to the fear of being judged or having to live up to their expectations of you. The opportunity to discuss your feelings can be very cathartic and help you to release some inner tension which has a therapeutic effect.
Although I have a listed some of the more common issues that people present to counselling there are many other reasons that people may wish to talk about and even with those listed they will affect people in different ways. Some of the issues surrounding race and culture, sexuality and difference are very emotive and prevalent in society which can be discussed during psychotherapy in a non-judgemental environment.
Other issues may include:
Terminal Illness
Chronic Pain
Parenting Issues
Work-life Balance
Physical Health and Illness
